Beingness: Beyond Borders
Weekend Actor’s Intensive Workshop

What is “Beingness” for an Actor?
After presiding over close to half a million auditions over the 31 years I was a film and television casting director, I witnessed quite a varied display of levels to which actors would go to immerse themselves in the character. I also saw no shortage of those who approached the audition as having to ‘do’ something to ‘get’ or accomplish something.
Not that these were bad performances necessarily. But you could feel the strings attached that was preventing them from going fully into the zone. When an actor came in with that elusive energy that generated a kind of ‘beingness,’ it was as if we suddenly went from black and white to color.
Over the years, the differences in these performances has taken on a more clear set of distinctions for me. I started to figure out what was neurologically and energetically generating it and also, what would block it. And using this information has been so valuable in helping my live performance coaching clients and taking my own performances as a professional musician, to an entirely new level.
I now offer this technology to experienced actors to help them move to a more consistent and truly powerful place from which to create and embody their characters. A place they can reach consistently whenever they want after discovering how to get there. I hope you can join us for a workshop I’m so excited to share!

Empowered Actor Workshop Student Quotes
“Stephen, What you offered us was life-changing. You brought out the best & the deepest in us all. You should add another word to the title: Intensely Empowered Actor Workshop. As good a word as Empowered is alone, it just doesn't say it all... You're The Best!! You inspired me to be a better ME! It's obvious that you truly have a soft spot for actors. Thank you for loving us so much.” — Gail Harvey

“My deepest thank you for this weekend, working with you. I had an amazing and special experience! This class is not just a workshop, it was more than that. It is an amazing combination of technique and psychology that moves me to a new level of my acting. You changed my thinking and perspective on life in general and you helped us to go deeper into ourselves and self-search. After working with you, I look at acting from a whole different direction. You are truly an amazing person and you set such a great example for all of us in this industry. It was the best class I’ve ever taken on acting!” — Yulia Hancheroff
“Steve’s Empowered Actor workshop was amazing! It might well be called “Empowering Yourself” as what you will learn goes well beyond the acting process. Intelligent, articulate, insightful and compassionate, Steve creates an environment in which actor’s can allow themselves to be vulnerable and optimize growth. I will carry the tools I learned not just into auditions but into any situation where I want to be successful. Steve is a Seattle acting community treasure.” — Walayn Sharples
“AMAZING workshop this weekend!!! THANK YOU!!! I would do it again in a heart beat! Thank you so much for providing such a warm and non-threatening environment! This was the perfect workshop for me to start with as a first-timer, however, it will also be the perfect workshop for me to come back to again and again and again! You have given me some amazing tools that I never knew about prior to your class and I feel MUCH MORE prepared to face auditions and obstacles! You have my eternal gratitude!!!” — Fledra Newstrum
“It was liberating to be given permission to be transparent, honest and open and I so appreciate your expertise in creating that space of safety!” — Cathy Vu
“For the ten of us that were there, it was amazing. We represented the entire gamut of age and experience, and everyone left buzzing about the class. We each walked away with over an hour of ourselves on video, so there's plenty for future study. And the difference between the two days of before and after performances was unbelievable. Does it work? Time will tell. But after over 40 years in the business, until this workshop, anxiety had been the hallmark of my audition experiences. And I can tell you this for certain — this old voice guy was able to cry on cue. And that was a breakthrough. Thanks, Steve.” — Jim Cissell-National voice-over & on-camera talent: www.voiceguy.com
“I loved the workshop. I think you are an inspiration as a person, as a professional and as a teacher. I loved how you facilitated each person's work session so that it was useful for them at their individual skill level. I saw each person take steps forward — and you managed to do it in a way that provided opportunities for growth for each person who was observing as well. You created an atmosphere of generosity and trust, and you accomplished all of this while asking us to take responsibility for the workshop. I left with some shifts in perspective to chew on for a while, as well as several, signicant, concrete tools to work with now, that I didn't have before. Truly amazing how much there was to bring home from two days of working and observing as well. You are the best.” — Annette Toutonghi
“The concepts that you were teaching were so unlike any acting class that I have taken before. Yet it was much more empowering a place to learn as an actor. It was powerful to experience the conceptual break- throughs that happened not just for myself, but also to witness my peers courageous personal breakthroughs. Thank you for creating an environment where true growth was inspired in us all.” — Michiko Hull
"Stephen is a lovely human being and possesses the ability to take you beyond your limitations. In his Empowered Actor's Workshop, he not only gives each student the techniques to master their craft, he infuses each student with condence and helps them discover their own unique path to mastering an audition. However, his greatest gift is his willingness to be totally transparent and give deeply of himself. Everyone in his class agreed that it was an amazing weekend and the best money we've ever spent!" — Lee Ryan
"Stephen's class is dened by the word ‘unforgettable.’ The tools and lessons Stephen gave me have empowered me not only as an actor, but as a person. When attending an acting class they teach you this and that, but never get to the root of how to grow, discover, and wander through your character and to have a thirst for life, which is what all actors must have. Stephen's class goes beyond anything I have ever come across, he taught me to discover and understand myself, because once you do that then can you really open yourself as a vessel to allow yourself to discover and understand a characters true circumstances and life. Thanks to Stephen I am in a complete serene and unconicted state of mind allowing me to venture through life and to fall in love with unforgettable characters as I continue my growth and empowerment as an actress. Thanks again Stephen.” — Idris Valenzuela
“I learned more in these three days than in all three years of my collegiate drama classes so far. — Willem Schellings
"Let me start off by saying that there are more than a few workshops, classes and training seminars with qualied coaches and instructors for acting. Each one of them will give you at least one new thing to put into your actor's tool bag... a technique, a formula, a trick, stories to reference or at least a few resources. This weekend, I witnessed a woman with zero acting experience and her footing, after a traumatic personal event. I saw the self-realization of two younger actors, as they tackled some emotion-packed scripts. And it was so amazing to watch the face of a seasoned actor light up, when an old habit was overcome. But how is it that a middle-aged actress, with years of training, can walk out of a weekend experience with a deeper understanding of herself and the feeling that a successful new career is ahead of her? I'll tell you how, Stephen Salamunovich. To keep it short, The Empowered Actor Weekend Intensive is personal, intense, but also safe, and if you do the work, it is empowering." — Lee Ryan Coston (2nd time attending) Actor/Writer/Director
